Lighter, Stronger, Thinner
The Flight Wheelchair's hybrid design provides a fully rigid frame, while still folding to 9.5 inches from handrim to handrim, allowing a smaller profile than any other wheelchair on the market today. It weighs in at 18 pounds, light and narrow enough to easily be transferred in and out of a any vehicle.
Space-Age Caster Bearings
Our groundbreaking caster design offers wheelchair bearings built to endure what active users dish out. This is all done with minimum maintenance. The Flight Wheelchairs feature a combination roller/needle bearing that is rated for 6,000 lbs axial (up and down) load and 2,000 lbs radial (front to back and side to side) load. Most other wheelchairs currently use a single ball bearing race rated at 350 lbs radially and not designed for axial loading. The flush aircraft grease fitting allows for easy lubrication, without having to disassemble the sealed caster mount assembly. Your properly maintained combination caster bearings are designed to last the life of the wheelchair.
Innovative Wheel Locks
When it comes to our wheel lock mounts, innovation is the key! The wheel locks are mounted on a flat panel-rather than a tube, like on traditional wheelchairs. We were able to design a much more rigid mount, adjustable in increments down to 1/16th of an inch. It stays in place, with no readjusting necessary. You can even choose between high and low mounting of your wheel locks.
Precision Construction-No Welding!
The Flight Ultralight wheelchair frame is constructed without the need for welding! That means no welds to break, crack, corrode, or degrade the base metal. It also means that all of the metal parts for your wheelchair are made from much stronger non-weldable hard alloys.
What makes the Flight Wheelchair better? Our rigid frame structure is Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machined and constructed using built-in solid aluminum through bushings and threaded inserts, high tensile strength American made aerospace fasteners, and an extruded aluminum hinge that is gun-drilled for precision. Due to this type of construction your Flight Ultralight Wheelchair is stronger and lighter than a foldable welded tubing wheelchair.
Pullout:
The 7075-T6 alloy used to make our hinge is 84% stronger than the 6061-T6 alloy tubing used to make most aluminum welded frames.
